Dig Chicken, dig!

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Yesterday we closed on the construction loan and today they are digging the trench for the concrete slab today. Wow, I like this momentum. We also have a street number sign up (not of our doing). I love it.

I met Larry out at the site and this is what we saw:

Look, no roots! We were afraid that we’d hit huge roots that we’d have to cut and injure the tree.

Right now Scott is working on one of his projects at the dining table. It involves using his beloved soddering gun and, apparently, frequent consultations with the “Barbecue Bible”. Is this normal?

Cheap is good

We went to Home Depot yesterday and found this carpet for $3.75/sf installed. So it isn’t wool (um, try more like $13/sf) but it is definitely a contender. The wool carpets will also shed continuously whereas this carpet is Nylon and will not shed.

We also dropped by “Eco-Wise,” a local store stocking all kinds of environmentally sound products including paint, tile, carpet and reclaimed wood flooring. It’s a great resource. They even have bottled water in bio-degradable plastic.
